Perfectionism is destroying entrepreneurism

I’ve spoken to many business persons and quite often they sabotage their own success, stakes are high - their reputation is at risk, they feel the need to impress and look good. And this often plays out in their self-attainment as a perfectionist. Perfectionism is not a path that leads us to our great gifts or exceptional results, or our true purpose - it’s a hazardous detour. Perfectionism is not self- improvement. Perfectionism is at its core is about trying to earn approval.

Perfectionism is correlated with missed opportunities. The fear of failing, making mistakes, not meeting people’s expectations and being criticised keeps us outside of the arena where healthy competition and striving unfolds. Perfectionism is the thing that really prevents us showing up and playing to our potential.

Don’t let the perfect sabotage your dreams. Five prospective calls you do is better than the 25 you don’t.  The imperfect book that gets published is better than the perfect book that never leaves your computer.

Perfectionism is an unattainable goal, it’s more about perception than an internal motivation. Wherever we are in the perfection scale we need to move from “what will people think” to “I am enough”.
